The sprinkler sends out a harmless spray of water that startles and typically frightens the critter away. It also discouraged repeat visits, because the animals associate the spray with a negative experience. The unit can work 24 hours a day -- day or night.

Staked into the ground, the motion detector pest deterrent hooks right up to an ordinary garden hose.  Since it sprays out water, it can help to keep your lawn, flowers, and garden hydrated. There's a dial that enables you to adjust the spray to focus on animals of a certain size (i.e. some homeowners may have a problem with deer, while others have a problem with chipmunks).

The unit does require one nine-volt battery, but the battery should last for about four to six months. The unit weighs in at one and one-half pounds.
