Father’s Day is June 20, giving you plenty of time to find something Dad will enjoy. (It seems to come much later in the month than Mother’s Day does, which is just plain unfair; shouldn’t we have an extra week to plan out what we’re getting Mom, too?) Here are a few cool gadgets that will knock Pop’s socks off this year.
The Big Screen: If Dad hasn’t upgraded to a flat screen TV but has been dying to, maybe you can help him out. This gift is a great idea for siblings to go in on together, making it easier on your wallets while simultaneously getting something Dad will love. There are even good-sized 37-inch screens available for under $500 these days.
Feed His Inner Bookworm: Is Dad a big reader? Whether he’s into Tolkien, L’Amour, or King, he will appreciate a new Kindle, which will allow him to bring his favorite books on the subway, camping trips, and anywhere business takes him.
Multiple Gadget Storing Station: If your father is already teched-out, he could probably use one of these Bluetooth Refresh Charging Stations. Not only will it help keep his gadgets ready to use, it will also keep them organized and together. No more hunting for his Blackberry before heading out the door! For a dressier, more professional look, there’s this charging station, while this cheaper alternative provides a whimsical look with Dad’s gadgets “growing” out of the grass.
Good Tunes: If Dad is a music lover but doesn’t have an MP3 player yet, get him something he’ll really enjoy. An iPod would be a wonderful gift, though they can be pretty pricey. Generic MP3 players work just as well if music is all he’s after, and can be purchased for as little as thirty bucks. Be sure to load it with a few of his favorite songs—and if he doesn’t know how to load it himself, get him to make you a list of songs he’d like and fill it for him.
Sporty Simulators: If Dad can’t stand missing out on his favorite sports when it rains, or could simply use a fun diversion once in a while, get him a simulated sports game, such as the Golf Launch Simulator. Would he like to play such a game for a day, but not every day? Take him to lunch at Dave & Busters (or any other similar venue) and load him up a game card to play on for the whole day.
