Christmas is almost upon us. I have been hearing Christmas music for at least a month and am already ready to strangle the brilliant minds who decided we have to have Christmas five months out of the year. But I digress. For those of you who are ready to begin shopping for Christmas, ZDNet has published their top 10 girl gadgets to gift for Christmas this year. Being of the girly inclination myself, I thought I would weigh in on their choices.
1. Nokia N9: While I don’t necessarily agree with this one, I think some women would really enjoy the full-screen touch and ease of use.2. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii: Being a Wii fan, and a Zelda fan, I think this collector’s edition with gold remote could be just the ticket for the gaming woman in your life.
3. Phosphor Appear Watches: Covered in Swarovski crystal, these just scream impracticality to me, but they do get points for originality.
4. Nintendo 3DS: Improving on the already cool DSi, 3DS just makes the portable gaming experience even better. And with so many games that range from practical to immersive, this is a good one for the pickier gal on the list.
5. Juicy Couture Faux Fur Ear Muffs Headphones: Okay, this one is just not me. If your girly girl is up on fashion and in need of some new headphones, she will probably scream at ear-piercing decibels when she opens this gift.
6. Sony Alpha Nex 5N Camera: Oh, baby. This one should have been higher up on the list. Who doesn’t want to capture memories with the latest technology. The price tag, however, is out of reach for many, so feel free to substitute for a lesser-value equivalent.
7. Mimobot USB Drives: Ever the queen of practical, even I hope to find one of these in my stocking from Santa this year. This would be perfect for keeping all the kid pictures on – easy to remember which one is which!
8. Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse: Being a writer, I am often lugging my computer around in the car when we drive places. My onboard mouse is awful, so I ineffectively mouse on the little armrest of the car. This would be the perfect solution for any woman on the go and is now making its way onto my wish list!
9. Asus Zenbook UX31: I don’t understand the appeal behind a netbook. I get that they are lightweight and more portable, but my laptop is light, fully featured and allows me to do anything I want while still weighing only a few pounds.
10. HP TouchPad: By all accounts, this is a nice tablet. If you are already planning on buying a Compaq or HP computer, this might be worth tacking on for the low add-on price and excellent gifting capabilities.
Overall, I think ZDNet did a good job with this list, giving options for every personality type. Definitely hint around about these gifts with the girl on your shopping list and you’re sure to find one that wins.
